I designed a sticker based on the film “Boxeadora”. The film Boxeadora follows Namibia, a Cuban woman who has been training in secret as a boxer for five years, hoping the government would lift its ban. Now 38, she only has two years left of boxing eligibility. Journey with Namibia as she tries to leave the island to follow her only dream: to compete as a boxer. My process was to carve and print an image and then manipulate it digitally. My sticker was distributed to film goers after they watched Boxeadora. I love the Milwaukee Film Festival and attend it every year. You can check it out here: mkefilm.org. I also got to meet Meg Smaker, the filmmaker behind Boxeadora, and she was very excited about the design. The sticker was also used by MKE Film for promotions and giveaways.
Poster design for Arte Para Todos.
I got to work on this poster for a really awesome cause here in Milwaukee, WI. Arte Para Todos (art for everyone) was conceived as an answer to the defunding of art and music programming in schools, but it also serves as a replicable model of sustainable service to the community. We will always have the city we ask for, either explicitly or through apathy and inaction. Arte Para Todos is based on the idea that culture is an act of will, and that if we want a healthy, vibrant city where the arts can flourish then we have to act on that desire. I was able to provide artwork for a show that was put on to benefit Arte Para Todos. I hand painted the lettering and then manipulated the colors digitally.
